Last year our hugely popular blog; 7 Luxury & Unique New York Hotel openings in 2021 showcased some amazing new planned hotel openings in the city, but due to the ongoing pandemic many openings were delayed. Hospitality in New York City took an enormous hit during the Covid19 pandemic, but 2022 looks set to be a reawakening for the industry as with the opening of some simply stunning new luxury hotels.
We’ve got an update on the planned openings we featured last year, to keep you up to date on those hotels that have already begun welcoming guests, along with some fabulous new additions to the city’s hotel-scape coming in 2022. Each hotel brings their own unique style and presence, but all have one thing in common, bringing a little extra high end glamour to the big apple.

The Chatwall Lodge
Updated planned opening: April 2022
This beautiful getaway resort located an easy 90 mile drive north of the city in Bethel, New York, has an updated opening date of April 2022. We’re sure you won’t be disappointed by the wait. Updated planned opening: 2023
One of the most unique and anticipated hotel projects in recent years, Six Senses now looks set to start welcoming guests in 2023. What's new for 2022
1. The Ned
Expected opening: Summer 2022
Set to be the first international opening of The Ned brand, which since it’s opening in London in 2018 has become synonymous with heritage buildings, reimagined luxury and private members spaces. Originally built as a store and office building The Ned will be located inside the Johnston Building, the former home of the NoMad Hotel.
Offering a mix of public and members-only spaces, there will be 167 bedrooms accompanies by a public bar and restaurant. Ned’s Club, a members only destination will give access to a private rooftop bar and restaurant.
2. Aman New York
Expected opening: May 2022
Another opening delayed by global events, The Aman now looks set to open in spring this year. Aman New York looks to combine the grandeur of the Gilded Age with a modern-day New York City touch. It’s hard to beat Aman’s location in the heart of Midtown, overlooking Central Park. Occupying The Crown Building - formerly the first home of Museum of Modern Art, it’s hard to beat Aman’s location in the heart of Midtown, overlooking Central Park.
Aman New York will consist of 83 hotel rooms, as well as restaurants, a Garden Terrace & Bar with 7000 square feet of outdoor dining space, private members spaces and an underground jazz bar.
3. The Wall Street Hotel
Expected opening: 2022
In the heart of the financial district, Located on the site of the legendary 19th-century Tontine café and trading house at 88 Wall Street, this independent luxury boutique hotel has been designed to serve as a haven from the hustle and bustle of the city. The hotel features 180 guests rooms and suites, lobby lounge and bar, restaurant, rooftop bar, lounge and terrace. It also features on its top floor a 6,800 square feet of meeting and events space.
4.The Fifth Avenue Hotel
Expected opening: 2022
Originally planned to open in 2021, The Fifth Avenue Hotel looks finally set to open its doors in fall this year and sophistication will be the name of the game.
Originally opened in 1859, The Fifth Avenue Hotel aims to maintain the building’s vintage history while offering guests a one of a kind experience. The restoration of the hotel which has taken seven years and over $200 million dollars, will open as a brand new 153 room hotel. The entrance will feature 30-foot high majestic ceilings that warmly invite guests to linger in the lobby. The hotel is set to come equipped with a 5,000 square foot ballroom with 20-foot high ceilings and its very own bridal suite complete with its own terrace.
5. The Ritz Carlton New York NoMad
Expected opening: Early 2022
New York will get a brand new Ritz Carlton hotel in 2022, the newly built hotel located in the heart of Manhattan at 1185 Broadway will offer sweeping views of the New York skyline. Featuring bold design the Ritz Carlton NoMad promises to be the essence of the new Madison Square Park. Now standing as one of the tallest buildings in the area, it will boast 250 bedrooms. Guests will be able to dine in the restaurant of ward winning chef José Andrés as well as enjoy the rooftop terrace and 6,800 foot spa and fitness centre.
5. Hard Rock Hotel New York
Expected opening: May 2022
Located between the theatre district and Radio City music hall, just steps away from Broadway’s theatres, the newest additional to the Hard Rock Hotel family looks set to bring some star quality to New York this year. Floor to ceiling windows, city views and some extraordinary entertainment venues, this is definitely a 2022 debut you don’t want to miss. There will be 446 bedrooms, along with some innovative dining options, topped off with two expansive roof terraces to enjoy some stunning city views and dance the New York night away.
