With each new year, comes new trends. And every year we look forward to seeing what new trends will be taking over the wedding scene. While we take care of finding your perfect venue and planning your wedding, it’s important to know which traditions, colors, and designs are in and which ones should stay! Keep reading to see what trends are on the rise this year.
1. Bold Color Palettes
This year wedding themes will be all about embracing color. We’ll be seeing a lot of unique new color combinations that have never been done before. Couples will be veering away from the soft classic colors that have been popular in previous years and heading in a more fun direction. Case in point: Pantone Color Institute announced that Living Coral, a bright coral shade, is its 2019 color of the year. We’ll see many newlyweds incorporating this shade into their wedding decor along with other bright and bold colors that are fun and daring.
2. Royal Wedding Vibes
With the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle under 2018’s belt, it’s no surprise that we’ll see a lot of royal wedding inspo in weddings this year. Think dainty bouquets and large floral/greenery installations. We’ll also see many Meghan Markle inspired brides in 2019 wearing traditional, clean dresses, tiaras, and “messy” updos.
3. Mismatched Bridesmaid Dresses
Bridesmaid style has come a long way over the years. Many brides are stepping away from having their bridesmaids all wear the same dress and mixing things up with mismatched bridesmaid dresses. This creates a unique ensemble filled with beautiful dresses made up from different fabrics, styles, hemlines, and even colors! Not only does this take the stress out of finding a dress that all of your bridesmaids will love, it also allows you to highlight each individual bridesmaid. Not to mention, your bridesmaids will probably be happier in a dress that they both look and feel good in.
4. Untraditional Wedding Parties
Typically, we see brides and grooms choosing the same amount of bridesmaids and groomsmen to stand beside them on the altar. This year, we’ll see a change in this as couples opt for different numbers of bridesmaids vs. groomsmen and also a mix of genders standing on both sides of the aisle. Don’t be surprised if you see a man standing on the bride’s side with her bridesmaids or vice versa! Many couples are even opting to have no wedding party at all! 2019 will be the year of mixed and untraditional wedding parties.
5. Intertwined Wedding Bands
Traditionally, brides opt for a more simple wedding band as an enhancement to their engagement ring. Typically, the wedding band sits directly against the engagement ring but doesn’t form a single piece. Today, more designers have found unique and creative ways to interlock both the wedding band and engagement ring to form one single ring. This is typically done by sliding the pieces around one another. Many brides-to-be will be rockin’ intertwined wedding bands on their ring fingers this year. Many jewelers, including an online jeweler, Blue Nile, offer a dazzling array of wedding bands. This makes it easy to shop for popular wedding band styles directly online.
